St Ives Corn Exchange
Description
Following concerns over falling masonry an emergency report was commissioned and repairs were undertaken to the high level masonry following a structural survey. Rattee & Kett assisted with the scope of works with the client and the local Conservation Officer and took the opportunity to include the refurbishment and decoration of the timber windows to ensure the building was weather tight.
The works involved:
- Stonework repairs and replacement.
- Brick replacement.
- Lime Mortar pointing
- Conservation to the stonework.
- Masonry reinforcing
- Timber replacement and repair along with decoration.
Key to the successful completion of the project was a swift reaction to the situation of falling masonry and constant liaison with the client to enable cost control.
