Tempsford Bridge
Description
Following partial demolition of the parapet of this listed structure after a road traffic accident, our brief was to design a scheme of works. As the bridge is contructed over flood plains of the River Great Ouse, there was an environmental impact to be considered with the construction of scaffold that restricts flows and that could be washed away in severe weather. As the highway is part of the busy A1 trunk road, traffic management had to be designed and implemented to ensure the road was unrestrited at all times.
The works involved:
- Surveying the existing structure.
- Sourcing suitable matching materials.
- Scheduling and producing the new required elements.
- Co-ordinating site works.
- Dismantling and re-building the damaged areas of the parapet wall.
- Erection of a new timber fence.
