Franklins Lodge, Boston
Description
The roof of Franklins Lodge was in a sorry state and had had no maintenance carried out for a number of years. The lead gutters and timber substrate were replaced to current standards and the roof
re-covered using Welsh slate.
The Portico was becoming unsafe and this was rebuilt re-using all of the original carved stonework.
All of this work was carried out under a substantial temporary roof over a period of 6 months whilst the building was occupied.
The works involved:
- Temporary roof and full access scaffold.
- Re-building and conservation of stone pediment.
- Reforming of parapet with new lead covering.
- Re-roofing of slated roofs using reclaimed Welsh slate.
- Overhauling, repair and conservation of all timber sash windows.
- Brickwork repairs and re-pointing.
- Re-decorations.
