ABMC, Cambridge - External Decoration
Description
The Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial site in England, 30.5 acres in total, was donated by the University of Cambridge.
Along the south side are the Tablets of the Missing, and at the far end is the memorial with its chapel, two huge military maps, stained glass windows bearing the state seals and military decorations, and mosaic ceiling memorial to the dead.
Our works consisted of the stripping-off of previously applied thick, coloured varnish to the hardwood frames and doors of the Chapel building, and applying Danish Oil to allow the natural beauty of the wood to glow through.
The works involved:
- Access to all windows and doors.
- Careful cleaning back to bare wood.
- Application of new surface treatment.
