Norwich Cathedral Hostry
Description
Rattee and Kett were awarded the advanced stonework package for the new Hostry project at the Cathedral. Construction was completed following the conservation of the existing remains and the approval of full size sample panels by the FAC and other bodies. The works also included the formation of new doorways into the existing Cathedral and Cloister through the historic fabric.
The works involved:
- Repairs to the existing wall footing.
- Construction of a new external load-bearing wall. The wall has a rag-stone face to both sides with a continous Clipsham limestone cill running the length for the glazing above.
- Re-ordering to existing stone features within the Cloisters.
- The formation of new doorways through the existing Cathedral wall.
