Harvey Court, Cambridge
Description
The new Stephen Hawking building for Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge has been constructed on a site of a previous building that had a number of trees with preservation orders. As a result the Architects have designed a building whose primary use is student accommodation, which follows the flowing lines of its natural environment.
The works involved:
- Following meetings to add input into the design and selection of material for this project, Rattee & Kett were procured as an advanced stone package to design, supply and install the solid masonry cladding to the external facades of the building.
- The stones selected for the project were Ancaster Weatherbed (Blue), Ancaster hard White for the remaining walling and Clipsham for the copings to the parapet and retaining walls.
